Not all sound system installations are the same. We hear from a wide range of clients looking for unique applications for their homes, from truly immersive dedicated theaters to minimalist listening rooms. With an arsenal of high-performance audio manufacturers on hand we have the ability to be versatile even within specific installations–what if a client wants a space for both movies and music sessions?

A common go-to for us in these scenarios is PSB. Respected throughout the industry for high-value loudspeakers in music and cinema applications, this Canadian company offers a wide range of tower, bookshelf and architectural models. 

Even though we could talk about their various speaker lines forever, we want to focus our efforts on their best surround sound solutions: Synchrony Tower and bookshelf speakers. 

While most of us equate "Home Theater" with "Surround Sound" and equate Surround Sound with Dolby Labs and DTS decoding, some of us are mostly music lovers who happen to have a TV in the same room as our stereo and want to use the two together. So the emphasis is on stereo music reproduction...not on the ever-increasing number of channels employed in the latest surround soundtracks on blockbuster movies. (This is not to denigrate home theater systems in any way. A sound system installation with top-notch speakers and electronics in your Boston area home theater setup will recreate what you hear in a movie theater in a very different way from any two-channel solution. But some of us don’t want more than two speakers in a room!)

In our last newsletter/blog we explored the convenience and wide variety of choice that streaming music brings to the table. Now for something completely different—playing LP records! This form of music playback has had somewhat of a renaissance the last several years. Many folks love the warm, full sound of records and the whole experience—from reading the liner notes to owning the physical medium, to even the occasional tick or pop!
